Designed by Ian Brody and illustrated by Antonio De Luca, Jon Hodgson, John Howe, Matteo Macchi, who are considered some of the best illustrators of Tolkien's work of all time, it allows for games of about 100 minutes for players aged 12 and up. Whether you are already familiar with the classic War of the Ring or not, this edition promises epic conflicts that will delight fans of The Lord of the Rings.
Whether leading Sauron's relentless armies from Mordor or commanding the proud men, elves, and dwarves, players will compete to score the highest number of victory points. Each participant will use their own deck of cards, featuring unique characters and artifacts from their faction group.
The Free Peoples will fight to defend their ancestral lands and protect the paths, hoping that Frodo will reach Mount Doom and destroy the One Ring. At the same time, the Shadow players will try to attack quickly while undermining the hobbits' trust and corrupting the Ring-bearer with their darkness.
Games of War of the Ring. The Card Game are played in rounds, in which each player takes turns playing cards that represent characters, armies, objects, and events from Tolkien's trilogy. At the end of each round, battles between opposing cards on the same battlefield and the location paths are resolved. Often, winning battles at the locations will grant more victory points, but controlling the paths is key to determining the progress of the Fellowship.
