The Lost Ruins of Arnak Expedition Leaders is the first expansion to the multi-award winning game The Lost Ruins of Arnak. Designed by Elwen and Min, it includes new components that are added to the base title to multiply the strategic possibilities available to players.
In The Lost Ruins of Arnak, each player controls an exploration team that must unravel the mysteries of the island. Combining the mechanics of worker placement and deck building, players must collect resources, confront powerful beasts and advance in the investigation of a lost temple.
The main new feature that the Expedition Leaders expansion adds to the base game is the addition of 6 unique leaders with special abilities. This breaks the symmetry of the games, as each player will have certain specific advantages from the beginning to the end of the session. Each leader comes with his own board and starting cards that replace the boards and cards of the base game. The leaders available to the players are: the captain, who allows to have 3 archaeologists instead of 2; the falconer, who uses her falcon to obtain important effects and benefits; the baroness, who always has more resources; the professor, who uses her knowledge to manage artifacts; the explorer, who although she only has one archaeologist can move multiple times around the board; and the mystic, who knows how to take advantage of the fear cards.
If you thought you already knew all the secrets of Arnak, get ready to face new challenges! Beyond the leaders, the expansion includes 30 new cards (18 objects and 12 artifacts), 8 new sites, 5 guardians, 4 idols and 3 assistants that blend in with the elements of the base game. In addition, this expansion puts at our disposal two components that allow us to play the original title with variants: On the one hand, we will have a new lunar staff, which unlike the original proposes us to discard more objects and artifacts at the end of the round and thus obtain more card rotation. On the other hand, a new research routes board, with new associated benefits.
With the Expedition Leaders expansion, The Lost Ruins of Arnak takes on a new strategic dimension with many more possibilities. In addition to the six unique leaders, which offer a different experience in every game, the new elements allow for previously unseen combinations - unleash the explorer in you and unravel all the island's ancient mysteries!
