In Terraforming Mars, players play the role of a corporation with a certain profile and work together in the terraforming process, but compete for victory points for not only your contributions to Mars, but also for improvements to the human infrastructure throughout the solar system.
At the beginning of each round (called "generations"), you will acquire unique project cards (from a deck of over 200), through which you can perform a wide variety of actions: from introducing new species of plant or animal life, to launching asteroids to the Martian surface, building cities or mining the moons of Jupiter to extract valuable resources (steel, titanium, energy...).
Standard Projects also allow players to terraform Mars regardless of which projects are acquired. When the global parameters (temperature, oxygen and oceans) have reached the required level, terraforming is complete and the game ends at the end of that generation.
After victory points are tallied, the player with the highest terraforming value will be the winning corporation!
