The contractors must venture beyond Moscow to find these professionals and stand out from the competition to win.
Contractors is the first expansion of The Red Cathedral, the eurogame by Shei Santos and Isra Cendrero, in which players build the Cathedral of St. Basil in Moscow and compete to make the most memorable contribution and thus win the favor of the czar.
This expansion was once again illustrated by Pedro Soto and Chema Román, two artists who were inspired by the art of Ivan Bilibin, a Russian artist known for his masterful representation of Slavic folklore in his works. Red Cathedral has been one of the most outstanding board games in recent years due to its unique rondel system, winning the hearts of thousands of players worldwide.
The first expansion of The Red Cathedral consists of a box with as much content as the base game that will take your games to another dimension. In Contractors, we basically have 10 new guilds that we will combine with the ones used in the base game, in addition to 6 additional project cards and a new individual card. Many of these guilds incorporate the Contractors module which, among other things, adds a new board to the game with a map showing the main cities of Russia where we will send our contractors to gather the talent of the best specialists and artisans in the country for the construction of the cathedral.
Like in the original game, each of these guilds has 3 different cards, of which we will only use one in each game, so Contractors offers more than 30 different ways to play The Red Cathedral. Among the new elements that these guilds add, it is worth mentioning the black die, a new die that adds to the 5 from the base game to collect resources on the rondel, diamonds, which are a new wildcard resource, or the contractors, meeple - Cossacks that incorporate worker placement mechanics into the game.
