Over the Edge is a surreal role-playing game about secrets and conspiracies that takes place on a mysterious island. Everything you do must revolve around secrets. Its time, the time of Over the Edge is 1959.

Compared to today, 1959 is an excellent time to base this game on. The world was being squeezed between inhuman totalitarianism and Western imperialism. Scientists were experimenting with psychedelic drugs, especially those used in mysterious and primitive rituals in forgotten places at the ends of the earth. In 1952, flying saucers were sighted over Washington, DC D.C.

Wilhelm Reich's books have recently been burned and he has died in prison (1957). In short, a modern enough time to be familiar, but without all that miniaturized information age technology that can give gigantic headaches to the game moderator. Now it's time to make that world yours, unabashedly.

This edition corresponds to the second edition published by Atlas Games.
