Two thousand years ago, the Roman Empire ruled the lands around the Mediterranean Sea. With peace at the borders, harmony within the provinces, a uniform law, and a common currency, the economy thrived and gave rise to powerful Roman dynasties that expanded to numerous cities.

In Solitaria, you compete with the adversary Contrarius for victory. Play a card from your hand and perform its action as per the usual Concordia rules. Afterwards, Contrarius reacts to this with the reaction shown on the same card. Turn by turn, you play a card until one of the usual conditions to end the game is met (the 15th house has been built or the last card has been purchased). Multiple games can also be combined to form a campaign of increasing difficulty. Contrarius has houses and colonists, as well as cards in their own card display. However, they never play cards. Their actions are only determined by the cards you play. During the game, Contrarius can earn victory points immediately for some of their reactions to your actions. Contrarius's houses, colonists, and cards are scored in the usual way at the end of the game. Contrarius does not have a warehouse or goods, nor do they use sestertii to carry out their actions. Will you be able to defeat them? You can face Contrarius at different levels of difficulty. A real challenge!

The team play variant Solitaria offers the opportunity to play Concordia as a two-player game in which both players form a team. In the cooperative team game, you compete as a team of 2 players against the adversary Contrarius for victory. You win or lose together. Therefore, you must not only seek your own advantage, but also take into account your teammate's ideas. In the team game, the actions of your personality cards are carried out by both players. Afterwards, Contrarius reacts only to your action, but not to the action of the current player, nor to that of their teammate. Thus, you play one card turn by turn until one of the usual conditions to end the game occurs. With the final score, you determine how well you have played compared to Contrarius. The team play variant of Solitaria is essentially based on the rules of Concordia Venus and the solo game of Solitaria.
