In Ganges, the players compete with each other for the support of the empire by turning their properties into rich and magnificent provinces.
Ganges is a competitive 2- to 4-player dice placement game set in 16th century India. Ganges was designed by the acclaimed Inka Brand and Markus Brand (known for the Exit series) and won of the 2018 international Gamers Award.
Players will find themselves playing the role of Rajas and Ranis, seeking wealth and fame through the cunning placement of their workers, represented by colorful dice Do you dare to enter the world of Ganges?
Ganges is about the placement of workers who are represented by six-sided dice of different colors. Players compete to get more money and fame than others, and they do so by cleverly placing their dice in different positions on the board and efficiently manipulating the dice faces accordingly. Many of the worker placement locations require the use of one or more dice, so it is always advisable to keep a good supply of these.
There are also spaces that will allow you to obtain more dice and others that will allow you to exchange some dice for others. The strategy in this game is based on knowing how to manage the amount of dice available, which bonuses to obtain and when to use them, knowing when to use Karma correctly to manipulate the dice faces, as well as making intelligent use of the dice by placing them effectively in the different spaces of the board, at the right moment. Will you be skillful enough with your dice to become rich and famous, and thus become a legendary ruler?
Some of the awards that this fantastic title has reaped throughout the world have been: International Gamers Award (2018), nominated for the Golden Geek Award for Best Game of the Year (2017), and many more!
Ganges is an excellent middleweight: a Euro that carries a certain level of depth without being a pain for less experienced players. It's ultimately about worker and tile placement, with a superb game-ending system. There are two tracks on the board progressing in opposite directions that, when crossed, trigger the end of the game. The spectacular use of dice as a resource, in addition to their value, modulates the weight and importance of the dice. Ganges features a spectacular pace of play that barely leaves you time to think about the next action.
