In the board game Katarenga, your goal is to get two of your pieces across the opponent's baseline. It may seem easy, but your opponent is flexible and dangerous.
Your goal in Katarenga is to get two of your pieces to cross the opponent's backline. It may seem easy, but your opponent is flexible and dangerous.
The abilities of the game pieces change from one move to another. Only if you realize the advantages of dividing the four possible actions, make intelligent use of the different strengths, and plan ahead, will you be able to outsmart your opponent through tactical gameplay and win the game.
Katarenga is an abstract game for two players that consists of a variable board, 16 pawns, and movement rules derived from chess. The movement of each pawn is determined by the color of the square it is moving away from (red = rook, yellow = bishop, green = knight, blue = king).
For each game, the board is constructed from four double-sided boards, each of which can be placed face up or face down, resulting in over 24,000 different 8x8 boards.
