For Northwood! is an award-winning solo trick-taking game, with a duration of about 15-30 minutes, recommended for ages 12 and up. It includes rules for a campaign mode.
In For Northwood!, you will have to peacefully unify the forest kingdom by visiting eight feuds and persuading their Rulers through the use of dialogue (tricks) to join you.
Each of the four allies you start with has an ability that you can only use once per visit. These abilities are varied, and with them, you can steal, discard, or even change your hand to help you achieve the target score.
Once you have attracted a Ruler, they can temporarily replace one of your allies, giving you more abilities to tackle the more challenging feuds.
With 24 rulers (12 used per game) and a campaign mode, the game offers a large number of ability combinations and a new puzzle in every game.
This game was the winner of the "Best Game" and "Jury Prize" at the 2021 boardgamegeek 54-card contest. It also won in the categories of "Best Solo Game," "Best Art," and "Best Emerging Author."
