The year is 1998. Thursday, March 12.
The car's headlights, aided by a clear three-quarter moon, illuminate just enough of a too-straight, too-boring road. Inside the vehicle, the radio is loud enough to keep it company, but low enough to make it impossible to understand what they are saying. Finally, a fine rain has been falling for a few minutes now, and the rhythmic sound of the windshield wipers accompanies them almost in the background. Finally, a sign on the road announces a hotel three miles away. The investigators are late in their journey and stop at a roadside hotel.
This scenario is a self-contained story that you can use with your regular group, but you will still find three pre-generated player characters.
The second amphora is the second scenario in this book for Call of Cthulhu 7th edition.
The screen is still black but a sound begins to be heard. A voice intones an almost musical litany. Perhaps in some dialect of Arabic, or Persian... or a much earlier language. An older but not too old man, black, with a wispy, graying beard, in a light robe and plain turban croons as he sways in a seated position. It is a dark room dimly lit by what looks like flames flickering the shadows. Next to him is another man on the floor. We don't get to see his face, but he moans and his body is full of burns. The person sitting down brings him a small bowl and helps him up to drink from it. The recumbent, now his face is bandaged, drinks and coughs.
