Regicide is a cooperative card game designed by Paul Abrahams, Luke Badger, and Andy Richdale and illustrated by Sketchgoblin.

Up to 4 players can participate, from 10 years old, in games that last about 20 minutes.

The objective that Regicide proposes is to join forces to defeat 12 powerful enemies. A sinister corruption has spread through the four kingdoms, darkening the hearts of once beloved kings, queens, and courtiers.

As brave adventurers, you must cooperate to purge their darkness and bring life back once again. To do this, players will use their cards, inspired by the French deck, to attack and defend. Are you ready to storm the castle, adventurers? You will take very little time to read the rules and start playing.

To set up the game, separate the kings (marked with the letter K, for their initial in English), shuffle them, and stack them on the table. Then, repeat the operation with the queens (marked with the letter Q) and the jacks (marked with the letter J) and place them on top. This will be the castle deck, which includes the 12 enemies to defeat. Shuffle the rest of the cards, which include all the numbered cards from 2 to 10, the four aces, which represent animals that will help you throughout the game, and the jokers (which vary between 0, 1, and 2 depending on the number of players you are) to form the tavern deck. Deal cards from this last deck among the players (adjust the quantity to the number of participants), turn over the first card of the castle deck, and... Let the assault begin!

In each turn, players must follow 4 simple steps. First, the active player must decide whether to play a card from their hand or pass; if they choose to pass, they skip directly to the last step, which consists of defending against the enemy's attack. If they play a card, it is considered an attack using the numerical value of the card. The second step is to apply the card's power, which is determined by the suit. Thus, hearts allow you to recycle discarded cards; diamonds, to draw cards from the tavern deck; clubs double the attack damage, and spades provide defense. The third step is to attack, applying the damage indicated by the numerical value and using the corresponding power.

But be careful! The enemies will be immune to the powers of the suit they represent... It wasn't all going to be so easy! Finally, the last step is to defend against the enemy's attack. To avoid damage, players must discard cards. Managing your hand of cards well is vital to achieve victory in Regicide! But adventurers will also have help. Throughout the game, you can use powerful combos, in which all players play the same card simultaneously as long as the combined value does not exceed ten. You will also have the help of animals, which add the powers of the suits they represent to any other card, and jokers, which nullify the enemies' immunity. You will also have the assistance of defeated kings, who will join your ranks once their darkness has been purged.

In Regicide games, companionship is vital, as if one of the adventurers runs out of cards and cannot defend against an attack, the game automatically ends in defeat. Plan the best strategies in quick and frantic turns that will delight role players, groups of friends, and families looking to have a good time. It also has a solo mode, in case you want to embark on the warrior's path alone. Wield your sword or raise your staff to challenge the darkness in the castles of the four kingdoms. The king is dead, long live the king!
