These cycles of experience, of course, have their origin in that book plagued with worms. I remember when I found it: in a dimly lit place, near the black and oily river where the fog always swirls.

The London Book Hunters Book is an award-winning supplement for the ENNIE and Golden Geek Awards for Trail of Cthulhu. Within its pages you will find a completely new campaign setting for 1930s London. In it, investigators are seekers of forbidden books about horror and the strange, and they are inevitably (or not) pushed towards horror.

It is packed with information, material, and background about the city and the era of the 1930s, all subtly and carefully oriented towards the investigation of the Mythos.

AN ANCIENT CITY

The Book Hunters dwell in the old city of London. It is a city where new cinemas, electric light, world power, and the height of fashion are part of the Crown's pride. Behind the veil of the mundane, there are horrors - the cancers - lurking in the capital, in the very heart of human civilization. A Templar altar could be hidden, almost forgotten, in the gloomy swamps of Hackney, but altars to false gods loom over the metaphorical swamps of Fleet Street and Whitehall. And as for the lost prehuman ruins... who can say what lies beneath London, if one digs deep enough?

TERRIBLE CHOICES

The player characters are not government agents with unconditional zeal or scholars in tweed suits exploring the boundaries of the forbidden. Instead, they acquire maps (and perhaps guides) to those forbidden boundaries in rusty libraries and prestigious auction houses. They are book hunters, seeking their moment or opportunity in moldy leather bindings, balancing the sales of their books with first editions from satanists and acolytes pretending to be sorcerers. They may not know exactly what they're dealing with, or they may know better than their clientele, but it's what they do to pay the bills.
