Cthulhu Dark Ages is a world illuminated only by fire. The ancient empires crumbled centuries ago, taking their culture and knowledge with them. It is a dark world and people are right to fear the darkness. In addition to Viking raiders, witches, and outlaws, this land is inhabited by restless dead, ancient horrors, and other malevolent beings lurking.
Dark entities that are beyond good and evil wait hidden in the folds of time and the corners of space. A few brave souls strive to fight these horrors and send them back where they came from. Will you be one of them? Cthulhu Dark Ages has been updated for this edition of Call of Cthulhu, completely revised and featuring abundant new setting material.
Inside you will find a player's guide to the dark ages, an optional Sanity mechanic to reflect medieval mentality, rules for oral storytelling and mounted combat, a grimoire of spells from the dark ages and optional rules for traditional magic, a bestiary of monsters, as well as a fully detailed setting: the Anglo-Saxon community of Totburh, in the Severn Valley, England, filled with interesting characters, descriptions of their homes, and a multitude of plot hooks that the Keeper can use and develop.
Three ready-to-play adventures will introduce players to the world of Cthulhu Dark Ages, starting from the tensions, characters, and horrors that lurk in Totburh and the surrounding lands. With only the light of a candle and your wit, embark on a journey to the dark ages... In order to play Call of Cthulhu, you will need at least one copy of the Keeper's Manual for Call of Cthulhu or the Starter Box, and optionally the Pulp Cthulhu supplement, available separately.
