Little Big Galaxies is a game by Scott Almes with illustrations by Bill Bricker and design by Benjamin Shulman. It allows games for 1 to 5 players, ages 14 and up, with an approximate duration of 30 minutes. To win, players must earn victory points by evolving their empire and colonizing planets.
As usual in the saga of Scott Almes' "Little Big Ones..." titles, we will find a lot of components in a small-sized box that ensure many hours of fun. Each player has a personal board on which he keeps track of his energy reserves, his culture points and the level of his empire. It will also be the base of his star fleet, from which the ships will leave to conquer new worlds. These unexplored planets are located in the center of the table, in the form of cards that are revealed from the common deck, and are available for exploration or colonization.
On their turn, players will roll the number of dice corresponding to their empire level to determine what actions they may take. The six available actions (one per die face) are: move a ship, acquire energy, acquire culture, boost colonization through diplomacy, boost colonization through economy and use the special power of a colony or the galactic board. Throughout the game, players will have to decide whether to prioritize colonizing planets and competing in a race with rivals, or whether to use the benefits of those planets, take resources and advance their empire.
there is no single path to victory and any decision can be key! Each player will also have a secret mission card and in case of fulfilling the requirements will add extra victory points at the end of the game, which is triggered when a player reaches 21 victory points.
In solitaire mode, the game becomes a struggle between the player-controlled empire and a rebellion that is inexorably expanding across the galaxy. Through an ingenious AI system, the rebellion will test the capabilities of the human commander in challenging challenges.
Little Big Galaxies is a game for all audiences. Its rules are very intuitive, so that soon after opening the box you will start the game, which makes it ideal for the most sporadic players. However, the large number of actions available to the participants offers many alternatives to the players, so that the most competitive groups will also enjoy a good challenge. Will you manage to become the most prosperous empire in the galaxy?
